National Honor Society - Spring Application Due
Description
The National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization for high schoolers that promotes leadership, service, character, and scholarship. The purpose of the National Honor Society is to elevate students’ and schools’ academics, leadership, and community engagement. NHS benefits students, communities, and colleges. Colleges have a way of seeing the academic and service commitment of an applicant through his or her membership.
The National Honor Society offers college scholarships to its members in good standing and it looks GREAT on college applications.
Eligibility criteria:
- Candidate must be a member of the sophomore, junior or senior class.
- Candidate must have been in attendance at Boca Raton Community High School for the equivalent of one semester.
- Have a cumulative HPA of 3.5 or higher
- Have a minimum of community service hours on a volunteer basis for a non-profit organization based on current grade level. These must be submitted to Student Services in order to count towards your application. No exceptions will be made to this policy.
- Seniors - a minimum of 80 hours
- Juniors - a minimum of 60 hours
- Sophomores – a minimum of 40 hours
- Have received no disciplinary action (no referrals).
- Acceptable attendance records (not be excessively absent).
- Exemplary character
- Documented membership either in a school club or activity or outside school organization
Applications
- Available to current sophomores and juniors
- Applications available between March 23-April 5
- Due: April 9 at 11:59 pm
